What a semester. I managed to squeeze out all As and one B in Organic Chemistry (which I am very proud of I might add). Next semester looks like it's going to be loads of fun so I can't wait! In the meantime, I'll be sitting at my computer working away at my website. Here's an updated list of what is to come! Brand new printable Sire-Dam list: This has been my current project as of late since I can work on it pretty easily on my laptop when my dad is hogging my computer. I've got a good half of it done and I'm hoping to get this finished up pretty soon! New Breed Pages: Fingers crossed that I get all of my horses transferred to my new site by the end of December - this is looking more and more likely every day. If you haven't checked it out, I recommend browsing my "List of Breeds" page and looking at what's to come! I even have a Marwari up for stud now! Pedigree Database: I haven't talked about him much, but my boyfriend attends the same university as me and is majoring in computer science. One thing that he's come to really enjoy over the past few semesters has been database management. After this semester ended, Logan didn't know what to do with his free time so I asked him if we wanted to work with me on creating a Microsoft Access database to keep track of pedigrees and show/competition records better! I'm hoping this can replace my Kintraks database, or maybe just add to it. Kintraks Database: I don't remember if I've said anything about it on my blog yet but my SSD that my Kintraks database was on died on me. This is the second SSD that has died in the past year (no, I'm not killing them, I have no clue how two went bottoms up for completely unrelated reasons). Unfortunately, Logan can't read the drive with an external reader to get the files off of it because something with the power supply in the SSD is messed up. To get these files, I would have to send the drive in to a file recovery company and keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't get lost in the mail amidst all of this holiday shipping nonsense. I'm hoping to get it sent out by the end of the year and get a replacement drive once I recover the files, but in the meantime I'm looking at other (more customizable) ways to keep track of progeny and pedigree information. Now, why am I so excited for next semester? I finally get to take a dedicated genetics class! I've already worked with the professor who teaches the class a few times before and I love the guy - such a cool and quirky dude. In cell biology this past semester, the epigenetics topics always interested me a lot so I'm hoping I'll get to dive deeper into this field in genetics next semester. I'm also taking my second semester of Organic Chemistry, a computer science class and a history class (core requirements since I go to a Liberal Arts university), and a class taught by my advisor called "reading chemical research." Of course, I'm still in Jazz Ensemble, Wind Symphony, and next semester I'm also going to participate as much as I can in the Basketball Pep Band! On top of all of this, I am now leasing a horse and work out at my barn 6 days a week to help pay off my lease and weekly riding lessons. I'm busy but I'm having tons of fun! I think that's all for now. As always, you can email me if you have any questions about anything or even just want to chat about pedigree stuff!
Thanks for reading, Reagan
