I had the joy of taking Genetics this semester and while the professor was just as chaotic and disorganized as I am, I learned a LOT. Below is my final paper for this class as I thought some people here may be interested. We got to choose from 4 different topics - genetic diseases, ancestry, dog genetics, and horse genetics. Naturally, I chose horse genetics, and then proceeded to write a 20 page paper on horse coat color genetics and pleiotropic conditions. I have become known as the student that will write you a novel unless you give her a page limit in my university's science department. Anyway, read if you dare - I will also be posting this document on my ADDITIONAL RESOURCES page.

I have always had a hard time understanding equine genetics but I kind of understood your paper. My science learning only went to 100-level courses in college, and even though I got a bit confused at times, I really enjoyed reading this paper. I enjoyed learning about the different shades (am I saying that right?) of black. The smoky black we used to call seal bay back in the day; we had a Trakhener in the barn I was at that looked just like the horse in the picture.

Thank you so much for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope to eventually compile a larger document that covers all current color genetics knowledge that is a little easier to read for those without an extensive genetics background. Stay tuned for more info!
